Why do ragdoll cats follow you? 6 reasons

These are the Six most common reasons according to me and many ragdoll owners why they follow you:

They are seeking your attention

Ragdoll cats love to spend time with their owners thus they crave their when they seek attention whether it is by pawing their ear or rubbing their belly.

Ragdoll cats are attention seekers but they are not clingy like Siamese, Abyssinian, or Persian. Ragdolls can equally balance their personal space when they need it. But when they seek attention they will follow around you.

Their curious nature

Ragdolls are curious in nature and explore the new environment. You will often find them playing with toys, and playing with grass or flowers if you let them go outside.

If you are adventurous with them they will join you easily and follow you.

They become boar

Ragdoll cats can easily become boars when they are left alone for a long time. They take part in house activities and play with the members. But when everyone is busy at their work, children go to school and then Ragdoll feels bored.

In this situation, they crave some sort of interaction.  And thus they start following you.

But if you try to hide yourself from them they start to meow because they hate to be alone for a long time.

They require food

Another possible reason that your ragdoll could follow you is that they are hungry. Ragdoll cats are trained properly and they know well their meal time. So whenever you are likely too late to serve them food then they will follow you.

I have even seen that when they are hungry they can follow more than normally. So whenever you will see that they are following you more than normal serve them food.

Their protective nature

Ragdolls are affectionate and equally very protective in nature like a personal security guard. This makes them famous for their dog-like nature. They will continuously follow you and keep eye on their owners. This is a part of their protective nature to those they are attached to.

They can retaliate if they feel they need to compete for their owner's attention. This indicates a possessive nature.

They attracted to the interesting smells

Ragdoll cats are easily attracted to perfume or any kind of interesting scent because they love smells. That is why you will notice that they will follow you to the bathroom (another possible reason is that they want to play with water).

While you will spray any perfumes, there is a chance that this fur ball will move around you to get the whiff.

Well, these are some most common reasons that they can follow you. But there are some others reasons also. But whatever the reason ragdolls can be excellent companions who will always remember you that they have a very close bond with you.

It happens that when you don't interact with your ragdoll cats for a long time, they feel lonely. So when you come back home they usually don't want to go out from their eyes. So they follow you continuously.

Regular routine walks even in your backyard will be helpful for them to spend plenty of good time with you. playing and walking can make them tired so they won't have much energy to follow you around.

Thirdly, make sure that you are providing love and affection to your ragdoll.
